I am no fan of Bishop Loverde, but time has shed light on the remarkably poor quality of many of the men that Father Gould recruited for the Diocese. As for James Haley, the decision to remove him from the priesthood was made by a Roman Tribunal quite independent of Bishop Loverde and a Tribunal that has proved in other cases to be very reluctant to remove priests from the priesthood. There was incontrovertible evidence that Mr Haley is unsuited for priestly ministry. Bishop Loverde asked Father Gould to pursue one young man for the priesthood. Father Gould declined telling Bishop Loverde that the prospect was gay. Bishop Loverde still wanted Father Gould to pursue, he saw no conflict. Father Gould declined and today is in a more remote parish out in Warrenton, no longer the vocations director. True story, now with this in mind, I am more apt to believe Father Haley. Bishop Loverde has issues and vengeance has been used. Pray for Father Haley.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
