I tried to paste an image but it didn't take.

There also was a church which had the holy table surrounded by cushions. The name escapes me, but it was wreckovated a la Dearmer in recent years. I'll have to locate my Chatfield to find the name and pics.

I must say that I really enjoy your columns which are truly fair and balanced.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1900800634479346046.post-28866791783915176962014-09-12T12:15:00.963-07:002014-09-12T12:15:00.963-07:00you're right and I concede the point. I was mostly referring to the Tables of the Creed, the Lord's Prayer, and the Commandments still in place, a holy table rather than an altar, the lack of ornaments, etc. it is very difficult to find a picture of a puritan influenced Anglican Church, Even Saint Magnus Martyr which still has the Tables intact, is Anglo-Catholic with all the altar furnishings associated with the high Church movement. I was tempted to use Pohick Church in Alexandria VA, but I wanted an English Church not a colonial one. If I had gone with a colonial church, i could have picked a congregationalist one of course, which did preserve that puritan tradition but I wanted to stay Anglican. If you have any suggestions of where I might do better, I would appreciate it. The Holy Table is in a prominent place, not overshadowed by the pulpit.

Actually this church fulfills the goals of Vatican II. Word and Sacrament unimpeded by "meretricious ornaments". Representative of true Roman sobriety.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
